ACHIEVEMENTS Vigyan paheli competition- Vigyan Paheli competition is organized by State Council of Educational Research and Training, Chhatisgarh (SCERT-CG). This competition is conducted every year in three phases- District level, Zone level and state level. State level is organized at Head Quarter SCERT, Raipur (C.G.), where top 10 students are selected every year. These students are awarded by cash prize and valuable books/ CDs as per the decision of director of SCERT. We take first the screening test at school level and then few selected students of class 9th and 10th are sent to participate in this competition. Session 2006- In this session, there were 21 students to participate in first phase (District level). Nine students selected for second phase examination (Zone level). From where one student mast. Moordhwaj Patel could succeed to reach final stage and got position in top 10. He was awarded by cash prize of Rs. 2000.00 and valuable books and educational CDs. Participant are providing here free lunch and T.A. of the nearest root. Session 2007- Again 21 students selected after screening test at school level are going to participate in the first phase (District level). SCIENCE EXHIBITION Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti encourage to implement the CCA component through Science Exhibition at every year start from cluster level, passes through Regional and final at National level. Regional venue and National venue is decided by Samiti every year. Cluster level competition has started in our school since last year (2006) Session-2006- Nine JNV schools- Raigarh, Surguja, Champa, Jashpur, Bainkunthpur, Korba, Amarkantak, Bilaspur, participate in science exhibition at our school. In this exhibition, participants have to present their specific model in physics, chemistry and Biology. First Position- Mast. Prakhar Singh Thakur (Class 9th) – Physics Model, JNV Bilaspur Second Position- Mast. Tulsi Arya (Class 11th)- Chemistry Model, JNV Bilaspur Third Model- ----------------------- --------------- Biology Model, JNV Amarkantak INTEL IRIS SCIENCE EXHIBITION In addition to above, Our Samiti is also affiliated to Intel Science Talent and Discovery fair exhibition (Intel ISTDF). Therefore our Samiti also organize science project competition in this regard parallel with three general science exhibitions. The selected projects through national level then sent to participate at Intel Open National level competition. The aim is to infuse a spirit of discovery in school children and increase their interest in science and technology. First Position- Miss Smriti Singh and Mast. Durgendra, JNV Bilaspur Second Position- Miss. Madhu Gabel and Mast. Rahul Bhardwaj, JNV Bilaspur They further participate at Regional level and national level, finally two students- Miss Smriti Singh Compete at Open National level at IIT New Delhi, where she was selected in 5th position.
Study of science and technology enables the children to examine and analyze their everyday experiences. Informations and understanding flowing from class room teaching could contribute to the elaboration of a publicly accessible database, which would in turn become valuable educational resources. Students prepare the projects on different topics under particular topic may lead to knowledge generation. In order to develop scientific attitude among the students, various activities are organized in the school level. The main purpose of science activities is to develop scientific attitude among the students to make them realize the interdependence of science, technology and society and the responsibility of the scientist of tomorrow. These objectives can be achieved by organizing the various science activities like- science quiz competition, essays competition, declamation, group discussion, science exhibitions etc. These science activities generate the creativity and inventiveness among the students. The main objectives to organize various activities are- (1)To develop the awareness among the students in the field of science and technology to effectively manage the resources of agriculture, food water, health, energy. (2)Exploring and encouraging scientific and technological talent among the children. (3)Making children realize the relationship between science and technology and society. (4)Understanding the need for proper management for the optimum utilization of resources and prevailing technologies. (5)Encouraging problem solving approach and development of appropriate technologies related to daily life situation. (6)Developing appropriate techniques for communication of science, technology and management. (7)To appreciate the role of science and technology in creating a new idea in the area of agriculture, fertilizer. Food processing, biotechnology, water harvesting, water management, energy resources, disaster management, educational technology Our Samiti is also encouraging to implementation of CCA components through the organization of Declamation, Quiz competition, science exhibition at cluster level, then regional level and then national level. The main aim of this organization is to search and nurture creative talent among the students. The organization of various activities like science exhibition would also provide opportunities to all participant students and teachers to get acquainted with different kind of equipment, devices and techniques. This exercise would generate scientific ideas for addressing various problems of the society. The main theme for the science exhibition in this year 2007 is Science and technology and planet earth.
